Monthly draw rules

These are the rules of the Sektar monthly draws, free prize draws held in each society. Each month's prizes, sponsors and dates are on that month's rules page and the draw's page in the app (Menu → Prize draws).

Free to enter, no purchase

• Entry is free. Entries come only from free things you do on Sektar during the month. Buying something, paying for an ad, a boost or a plan, or ordering from a shop never gives you an entry.

How you earn entries

During the month of the draw you earn entries for:

• Using the app: one entry for every 5 days you open Sektar (up to 4).
• Genuine ads: one entry for each free ad you post that stays up (not removed or held for review) (up to 2).
• Helpful answers: one entry for each helpful answer to a neighbour's question, counted the same way as the top helpers list (up to 3).
• Inviting neighbours: one entry for each neighbour who joins with your invite link and becomes a Resident (up to 3).
• Reviews: one entry for each review of a place in the directory (up to 2).

Nobody can have more than 10 entries in a month. Your entry count is shown on the draw's page.

Who can take part

• Residents only: on the day of the draw you must be a Resident of the society the draw is for.
• Anyone who won a prize in a Sektar draw in the last 6 months cannot win.
• Suspended and closed accounts cannot win.
• Sektar staff, and sample, review, test and guest accounts, cannot take part.
• Extra accounts, fake ads, copied answers or fake reviews to earn entries disqualify every account involved.

How the winners are chosen

• After the month ends, the Sektar server draws the winners at random. Each entry is one ticket, so more entries means a better chance.
• The draw can be run only once. Its random seed and a fingerprint of the list of tickets are kept in our audit log, so the result can be checked.
• Each prize also has backups, drawn in order, in case a winner cannot be reached or is not eligible.

Sponsors and prizes

• Some prizes are given by local sponsors, named on the month's rules page. Prizes cannot be exchanged for cash.
• We contact winners only through Sektar. We never ask for a payment, a fee or bank details to hand over a prize.

Other things

• These rules may be updated before a month's draw opens; the version shown on that month's page is the one that applies.
• Sektar is an independent app. The draws are not run, endorsed or sponsored by any housing society, its developer or its management.
