Privacy policy

Last updated 5 October 2026

This policy explains what Sektar collects, why, who can see it and how long it is kept. Sektar is an independent community app and is not operated by Bahria Town (Private) Limited.

What we collect

Your account. When you sign in with Google we receive your name, email address and a Google account identifier. You add your mobile number, and you can choose your home phase, language, a profile photo, a short bio and your profession.

Location checks. To confirm you are in the town, the app reads your phone's location when you sign up and whenever you open the app. The reading is compared with the town boundary on our server, in memory, and then discarded — we never store your coordinates. We keep only the outcome (inside, outside, or not accurate enough), the date, how accurate the reading was, roughly how far outside the town it was (to the nearest 100 metres, never where), and whether the phone reported being perfectly still. These help us spot fake-location apps, and are kept for 90 days. The app does not track your location in the background.

Rider mode. If you deliver as a rider, your live location is shared only between Start shift and End shift. It is shown to the business you deliver for and the customer waiting for that order, and live positions are kept only briefly, never in our database.

Orders. Your delivery address and door pin, a prescription photo for medicines that need one, and a payment receipt when a shop takes payment in advance are stored privately. They are seen only by the shop (and, for a receipt, by our team if there is a dispute, with every viewing recorded), and are deleted 30 days after the order. The order itself — items, prices and status — is kept.

ID checks. If you offer services or join the town rider pool, the photos of your CNIC and a selfie are stored privately and seen only by the staff who check them (every viewing is recorded). They are kept while your account is open and deleted when you close it. Riders in the town pool also give their CNIC number, kept so that a rider removed for fraud cannot join again.

Ownership documents. Documents uploaded by overseas owners before this option closed are stored privately, seen only by staff who review applications (every viewing is recorded), and deleted 30 days after the decision. We keep the decision itself.

What you post. Profiles, posts, comments, listings, complaints, reviews, orders and messages you send are stored so the app can work.

Device and security data. A notification token so we can send you alerts, and basic technical records (such as IP address and device type) to keep accounts secure and investigate abuse.

Who can see what

Other members see your name, profile photo if you add one, and your phase — never your house address, phone number or exact location unless you choose to share them, for example with a business delivering your order. Staff access is limited to what their role needs and important actions are recorded in an audit log.

Sharing

We do not sell your personal data. We use a small number of services to run the app: Google (sign-in), Firebase Cloud Messaging (notifications) and our hosting provider. We may disclose information if the law requires it.

Personalised feed and ads

To show you more of what you are looking for, Sektar notes the kinds of Market ads and shops you search for, look at for a few seconds, open the photos of, save or ask about — for example "cars", "Toyota Corolla" or "bakeries". These are kept as a short list of interests with a score, not as a history of what you did, and we never keep what you type into a search.

  • Used for: the order of your home feed, the "Recommended for you" row in the Market, and which sponsored ads you see. Sponsored and recommended cards say why they are shown.
  • Never used: anything about health, medicines or prescriptions, children, women-only services, your gender, your posts, comments or messages, complaints and outages, anything you reported, and your location.
  • How long: interests fade every night and disappear within a few weeks unless you keep looking at the same things. We keep at most 50 per member.
  • Who sees them: only you, in Privacy. Advertisers see totals only — how many people saw their ad — never who, and never why.
  • Your choice: turn off Personalise my feed and ads in Privacy and nothing more is recorded or used, and your interests are deleted. You can also remove one interest, or clear them all. Deleting your account deletes them too.

Keeping it

Account data is kept while your account exists. Location-check outcomes are kept for 90 days; delivery addresses, prescriptions and payment receipts for 30 days after the order; and ownership documents for 30 days after the decision.

Deleting your account

You can delete your account yourself at any time, in the app under Account or on the website. Your profile, posts, comments, listings, complaints, connections, notifications, location-check results and private documents are deleted straight away. Orders, deliveries, bookings, ratings and messages stay for the other people involved, without your name, and reports and our audit log are kept to keep the community safe. The Delete your account page explains it in full.

Your choices

You can edit your profile, privacy settings and language at any time.

Age

You must be 18 or older to create an account.

Changes

If we change this policy we will update this page and tell members in the app before the change takes effect.
